Yellow Belly make beer, and lots of it. That self-introduction from the Wexford-based brewery understates the point nicely: under head brewer Declan Nixon, Yellow Belly has become one of the most consistently impressive producers in Ireland’s craft beer scene — a brewery with a clear identity and the technical skill to realise it.
The Flagship Range
The core range covers the main styles without playing it safe:
- Citra Pale Ale — the approachable gateway, citrus-forward and clean
- Castaway Passionfruit Sour — the style that separates the curious from the cautious
- Kellerbier Helles Lager — a proper lager, which takes more skill than most craft brewers admit
- Hopped in Space IPA — the heavy artillery for hop-heads
Beyond the flagships, Yellow Belly brews seasonals and limited releases that have consistently attracted attention from beer enthusiasts well beyond Wexford. Their collaboration beers and experimental batches are worth following on social media for announcements.
Wexford’s Craft Beer Standard
Yellow Belly has done more than most to establish Wexford as a county with a genuine craft beer culture. They appear regularly on draft in the county’s better pubs and restaurants, and are stocked nationally in speciality off-licences and supermarkets.
