Bébhínn McGrath grew up watching her mother sew and her grandmother knit. She went on to work in film and television costume design — an education in construction, detail, and the psychology of clothes that informs everything she now makes under her own label. In 2017, she launched BÉBHÍNN, a made-to-order womenswear label built on two Irish fabrics: linen from Emblem Weavers in Co. Wexford, and Merino wool from Donegal Yarns.
Made in Waterford, Designed for Longevity
Every BÉBHÍNN garment is designed, cut, and handcrafted in Bébhínn’s studio at 129 The Quay in Waterford — a studio that also functions as an open shop, which means you can visit, try things on, and understand the making before you commit. In a world of fast fashion, there’s something genuinely countercultural about that offer.
The aesthetic is what gets described as “beautifully minimalistic” — contemporary classics that take heritage Irish fabrics and run them through modern tailoring techniques. The proportions are considered, the construction is meticulous, and the pieces are designed to last for years rather than seasons.
Made to Order
BÉBHÍNN operates on a made-to-order model, which means two things: nothing is wasted in production, and each piece can be adjusted to fit the person who’ll wear it. For garments at this price point and quality level, that matters.
Irish linen from Wexford, Merino from Donegal, designed and made by hand on The Quay in Waterford. BÉBHÍNN is everything the Irish design industry says it values, actually delivered.
