Simon Lambert & Sons on South Main Street is the most ambitious pub in Wexford and the one that takes food and drink most seriously. A family business dating to the first half of the 19th century, it now runs its own brewery — the home of YellowBelly Beer — alongside a smokehouse turning out genuinely good barbecue. It was voted Wexford Pub of the Year in 2017, and it has the craft credentials and the kitchen to back the billing.
A Brewery and a Smokehouse
What sets Lambert’s apart is that it actually makes things. YellowBelly Beer — named for the Wexford nickname — is brewed by the same operation, and the range turns up on tap exactly where it should. The smokehouse handles the food side with the same seriousness, producing barbecue that is a genuine reason to visit rather than a box-ticking pub menu. Few pubs in the south-east control this much of what they serve.
Its own brewery, its own smokehouse, and a Pub of the Year title to show for it. Simon Lambert & Sons is where Wexford takes its food and drink most seriously.

YellowBelly Beer
YellowBelly is one of the best-known craft beer names to come out of Wexford, and Lambert’s is its home. The range rotates and rewards exploration — ask the bar what is freshest on the day. For anyone who takes beer seriously, this is the first stop in town.
The Food
The smokehouse menu is the other half of the appeal — proper barbecue, cooked with care, and a clear cut above standard pub fare. Paired with a pint of the house beer, it makes Lambert’s as good for a long lunch as for a night out.
