In August 2024, Ballycross Apple Farm in Bridgetown, south Co. Wexford, announced with a heavy heart that it would not be reopening to the public. For years, the farm had been a seasonal destination for families — a place to pick apples, learn about orchards, and connect with the rhythms of a working fruit farm. That chapter has closed.
The Juice Carries On
What hasn’t closed is the juice. Ballycross Apple Farm Juices — made from exceptional-flavour apple varieties, hand-picked at full maturity, pressed by traditional rack-and-cloth method, and pasteurised for shelf stability — continue to be available through local and independent retailers in Wexford and beyond.
The quality of the juice reflects the quality of the orchards behind it. At Ballycross, only apple varieties grown for flavour rather than yield are planted — a distinction that makes an immediate and obvious difference in the glass. The product is as close to eating an apple as a juice can get.
Where to Find It
Ballycross Apple Farm Juices are stocked at Corrigan’s Butchers, Ardkeen Quality Food Store, and a range of other independent Wexford and Waterford retailers.
The farm may have closed its gates, but the juice is still being pressed from the same orchards. Some things in south Wexford are worth preserving — and this is one of them.
