The House
The present house was designed in the 19th century by Daniel Robertson — the same architect behind Johnstown Castle — for the Doyne family, who lived here for generations. Guided tours tell the story of the family, the house and the dramatic events that touched it over the years, in beautifully restored period rooms.
Gardens, Farm and Fairy Trail
The grounds run to many acres of gardens, terraces and woodland, with views down to the sea. There is an animal farm with the usual favourites, woodland walking trails, an adventure playground, and Mogue’s Enchanted Woodland Walk — a fairy-and-troll trail through the trees that younger visitors adore. Craft and design studios in the courtyard, and a good café, complete the offer.

Wells House is near Ballyedmond, between Gorey and Blackwater in north County Wexford, around 30 minutes from Wexford town. There is ample parking, a café and a busy programme of weekend events and markets. Allow a half to full day with children.
