The Pure Food Company makes food that does what it says on the jar. Pestos, harissa, sauces, and preserves made from locally grown organic fruit and veg, a selection of native wild plants, and what they’ve grown themselves — no artificial additives, no shortcuts, no filler. The name isn’t a marketing promise; it’s a production philosophy.
The Range
The pesto range changes with the seasons, which is how it should be — nine different varieties over the course of a year, from wild garlic in spring to nettle to coriander and beyond. The harissa is a Gold Award winner at the artisan food awards. The sauces and preserves round out a range that spans the kitchen shelf properly.
What distinguishes Pure Food Company from the supermarket “artisan” shelf is the sourcing. The produce comes from their own cultivation, from foraging in the Waterford countryside, and from trusted local growers — a supply chain short enough to have a genuine effect on flavour.
Award Recognised
The Gold Award for Sundried Tomato & Chilli Pesto and the Best in Farmers Market Award from Waterford LEO are the kinds of recognition that come from consistent quality. The products also appear at the Ballymaloe Grain Store — a stockist with high standards — which is another indicator of the quality level.
